Trevon Diggs’ contract with the Seattle Seahawks is reportedly finalized after he was waived as part of roster cuts on Sunday. The cornerback is set to join the team’s practice squad, a move first reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz and later confirmed by The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. This agreement allows Diggs to remain with the organization while waiting for an opportunity on the active roster.
The Seahawks made their roster decisions following roster cuts. Diggs was cut despite a strong preseason showing, including an interception against the Kansas City Chiefs.
A Troubled Return to Form
Diggs has a history of success with the Dallas Cowboys. He was an All-Pro player in 2021, a season in which he recorded 11 interceptions. He followed that up with another strong campaign in 2022. However, a series of injuries soon derailed his career trajectory. In 2023, he appeared in only two games before suffering a season-ending torn ACL. He tried to return in 2024, recording 42 tackles and two interceptions, but his season ended prematurely after just 11 games. A season later, he missed a significant portion of the campaign due to lingering concussion symptoms. This led to his release by the Cowboys in December, though he did finish the 2025 season with the Green Bay Packers.

Seahawks Coaching Staff Weighs In
Head coach Mike Macdonald spoke about Diggs’ progress during the preseason. “He’s really come up to speed, which is saying something,” Macdonald said. “And I think our players have done a great job of coaching him up and you hear him in walkthroughs, our guys coach him up, play to play, and he knows ball. All it is, is just kind of connecting dots and connecting some of that, all the things that he’s heard to the new techniques, the new words and stuff. So did some great things today. Obviously to have the interception was pretty awesome.”
While Diggs won’t get the chance to prove himself in games to start the year, the team holds the option to raise him to the 53-man roster at any point during the season.
